Welcome to the Financial Markets & Institutions Global Edition course, a core course in the Executive MBA programme.

This course provides students with an introduction to international financial markets and an evaluation of the institutions, instruments and participants involved in the financial industry. The mainstream markets to be evaluated include the equity, money, bond, futures, options and exchange rate markets. The subject systematically reviews each of the mainstream financial markets and investigates the various institutional participants and the different types of financial instruments offered.

The course is important in developing your knowledge and skills for:
※  Understand the international financial system through the analysis of financial markets and financial institutions.
※  Evaluate the role of the banking system and financial intermediates in the global economy and its interaction with financial markets and financial institutions.
※  Evaluate and critically analyse the role of international regulation in the financial markets, financial institutions and real economy
※ Develop an understanding of the characteristics and terminology of the debt, (including Collateralized Loan Obligation (CLO), collateralised Debt Obligation (CDO)), equity, foreign exchange, derivatives and sovereign markets.
※ Identify and explain different financial instruments available in the financial markets.
※ Assess the changes undergoing in the financial markets including the rationale for government
intervention
